98 Swoosh Win SuperClubs 05/06/2010 - The Tennessee Rush 98 Swoosh Boys won their first 11 v 11 championship over the weekend! The Swoosh began on Saturday by beating Arkansas Rush 98 boys 2-1 and then Madison United 98 by 2-1 that afternoon. On Sunday, the Swoosh battled a tough TNFC Crew 98 team to a nill-nill draw, sending the Swoosh to the final for a rematch against Madison United. Madison, out to redeem themselves from their loss the day before, came out aggressively, but the Swoosh were able to keep them from putting the ball in net. After 60 minutes of scoreless play the game went into two 7 v7 sudden death overtimes. Both overtime periods ended scoreless leaving it up to PK's. Hunter Dunkin made 2 great saves during the PKs to lead the team victory! Thank you to Coach Marco and to all the families who spent their Mother's Day at the soccer field!

U11 Girls and U12 Boys Represent at National 3v3 Tournament
(1/27/10) Ten players from Memphis represented Rush at the national 3v3 tournament held at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The boys made it to the "Sweet Sixteen" only to lose out to semi finalist, Juventus. This was quite an achievement for the boys as the entered the tournament as complete underdogs. The team was the lowest ranked group competing in Orlando and they provided a few upsets along their way to the quarter finals. After successfully winning the Regional Championship in Little Rock, AR in November, four Rush players made the journey to the 3v3 tournament's World Championships as well. Their team fared well against top level competition, finishing with an overall record of 2-3. Overall the players had a wonderful experience and we at Rush are extremely proud of their efforts! Congratulations! |

Rush Players Selected for Exclusive id2 Program
(11.16.09.) Two players from TN Rush attended the recent Nike sponsored id2 training programs. Daniel Rutter who plays for the 96 boys Nike team attended the camp in Zerephath, NJ, and Jack Skahan of the 98 Nike team attended the second camp held in Frisco, TX. Both boys got great feedback from some of the coaches who were in attendance and hopefully this will act as a springboard for both players to take their game to the next level! The id2 program, established in 2004, provides an opportunity for the country’s top youth talent to be identified and developed by U.S. Soccer National Team Staff for possible inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. The id2 program is unique from any other program in that it is an unrestricted opportunity to assemble the top boys’ and girls’ talent regardless of affiliation. |

| Important Letter on Goal Safety (09.14.09) Since the inception of Tennessee Rush just a few short years ago, we have concentrated on the development of our players, and have seen tremendous results on the field. This is very important to the organization, however as exciting as it is to produce quality teams that win on the field, it is far more important to provide a safe practice environment for our players. The safety of our players will always be # 1. To that end we have implemented a very strict safety policy regarding Goals at Sepp Huber fields. As you may have noticed all goals have been secured to the ground (standard size goals –these obviously do not include the very small size movable goals). We have communicated the importance of not moving goals (and keeping them secured) to the coaching staff. We are very serious about this- any non-secured goal represents a potential accident and any movement of goals by coaches will not be allowed. As a stakeholder in the Tennessee Rush (player, parent, coaches) we ask that you support this very important safety initiative, we want parents to take an active role in helping us enforce this important safety initiative. Please report any unsafe conditions to Rush Staff. Thank you for your cooperation, Tennessee Rush Soccer Club |

TN Represented at National Rush Event 08.03.09 The TN Girls ’97 Nike team traveled to Kansas July 22 – 26 for the annual Rush Festival. The Festival brings together Boys and Girls U12 Rush teams from throughout the country for friendly games and training sessions. Sixteen girls from Tennessee Rush attended with Coach Randol Lay and their parent chaperones. It was an incredible experience for the girls. They had the opportunity to get to know Rush teams from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii. There were social events, classroom lectures, and training sessions where players from different teams worked and played together. Each morning the teams played friendly games, and our TN Rush girls were fortunate to have Tim Schulz, the founder and president of Rush, to be assigned to coach and train them during the 4 days of the festival. Several of our players also had the opportunity to guest play for Hawaii Rush, which was a memorable experience. During the afternoon training sessions, they were able to meet and talk with some MLS players including Kevin Hartman, the goal keeper for the Kansas City Wizards. On Saturday evening, all the teams attended an MLS game between the Wizards and the L.A. Galaxy, featuring world-class players Landon Donovan and David Beckham. The TN girls played very well throughout the week against other quality Rush Nike teams. The Rush Festival was a wonderful opportunity for the TN Rush girls to train as a team with some of the top coaches and teams, gain exposure, forge new soccer friendships, and have a great time.

Tennessee Rush Shines at Prestigious ESP
Chandler Gagnon (93 Nike) was invited to attend, and former MLS all star and current Tennessee Rush Technical Director Ross Paule was also in attendance as a staff coach. When asked about the highlights of the week Gagnon said “The competition was strong, the facilities were nice and the gear we were given was great.”, however Gagnon’s highlight of the week was being selected to the all star game and the chance to play with Zinedine Zidane who was on hand as a special guest and played one half with each all star side. When asked if he was nervous Gagnon said “ I thought I would be nervous but Zidane kept us all loose—he was a calming influence on the field." The selection process for ESP involves a network of over 60 experienced coaches nationwide who work year-round scouting league games, tournaments, state cups and regional and national championships. Once scouted, nominated and selected, players are then invited to participate As the most recognizable development program today, the Adidas Elite Soccer Program continues to create, inspire and enable the elite soccer youth of America. Adidas ESP not only offers the elite player the opportunity to train and compete in front of professional and college scouts alike, but also provides opportunities for the players to learn about college programs and the professional path for a soccer player. A truly memorable experience for Chandler and we are extremely proud of him at TN Rush. |
